Supporting nature and community at Calthorpe Community Garden

Community gardens provide far more than green space. They create opportunities for education, wellbeing, biodiversity and community connection.

A team of volunteers from HKA’s London office recently spent the day supporting Calthorpe Community Garden, helping with its composting operations by sorting food and garden waste, processing compostable materials and maintaining compost bins. These activities help reduce waste, enrich soil quality and support the continued growth of plants and habitats across the garden.

Our volunteering activity aligns with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 15: Life on Land, which promotes the protection and restoration of ecosystems and biodiversity. By supporting a thriving community garden, our colleagues contributed to the stewardship of an important urban green space that benefits both people and nature. The garden also plays an important role in supporting community wellbeing, creating opportunities for people to connect, learn and enjoy the benefits of being outdoors.

A big thank you to the Calthorpe Community Garden team for welcoming us and to our volunteers for getting involved.
