HKA Partner Rick Moffatt is excited speak to industry and legal professionals at the upcoming Osgoode’s Construction Law Certificate program. The course – being held once weekly from September 30 through October 28 – comprises 5 days of targeted learning on construction law. Rick is one of an exceptional group of 30+ faculty specialists with real-world experience and a thorough understanding of the construction industry in Canada. Participants can attend in-person or online (live).

The diverse program reviews project delivery models in Canada, construction contracts, bidding and tendering, liens, important trends, construction claims, insurance and surety/bonding, occupational health and safety, labor law, and dispute resolution. After attending all program modules and successfully completing an online assessment within 30 days of the last module, participants will earn The Osgoode Certificate in Construction Law.

Rick Moffat, Partner

Rick Moffat is a construction professional with 30 years of industry experience. Rick has been appointed as an expert on more than 50 occasions in matters of both delay and quantum and has testified in litigation and arbitration. He has acted as an expert for disputed values of up to $300 million and for project values of up to $1.3 billion. He has also presented in facilitated mediation and settlement venues.

Rick has a background in international general contracting and construction management with experience of projects ranging from oil and gas, industrial, and power to infrastructure, commercial, and institutional sectors. He has experience in project management, contract risk assessment, scheduling, change processing, and project closeout.

Rick specializes in project risk management, schedule delay, loss of productivity, construction costs and damages, and delay and disruption. He has supported owners, developers, contractors, and subcontractors in the preparation, management, and analysis of critical path schedules for both construction schedule maintenance and claims assessment and in the preparation of delay and damages reports.

Rick is a regular faculty member for the Osgoode Law School Certificate in Construction Law program.
