Christopher Miers is a Chartered Architect and Chartered Arbitrator with more than 35 years of construction industry experience. He has been appointed as a technical expert on over 375 projects.

Christopher has been cross-examined in litigation as well as in domestic and international arbitrations, as an ICC tribunal expert, and as a single joint expert, including giving concurrent evidence (hot-tubbing). He has been appointed for projects with values of up to US$1.5billion and on claims in excess of US$ 200million. He also acts as an arbitrator, dispute board member, mediator and adjudicator.

Christopher’s experience extends across a range of projects including health, transportation, power, education, leisure, commercial and residential sectors. His advisory and negotiating roles have taken him to serve on multi-disciplinary building and infrastructure projects all over the world including Azerbaijan, Barbados, Cayman Islands, Brazil, Ecuador, Costa Rica, France, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Nepal, New Zealand, Oman, Portugal, Sudan, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Tanzania, Ukraine and the United Kingdom.

Christopher’s expertise covers a range of complex technical matters including coordination between architecture, engineering, specialist design and construction. He has acted as an expert on a wide range of disputes regarding design, materials, workmanship, quality of construction, interpretation of contractual obligations, delay and disruption, taking over and completion of works. Christopher has also acted as an expert advisor on many high-profile fire related forensic investigations.

Christopher is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a member of the Academy of Experts, the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), and the Society of Construction Arbitrators. He is a FIDIC’s President’s List Adjudicator for dispute boards, a past international president of the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation and a past chairman of the Society of Construction Law. He is also freeman and liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Arbitrators. Christopher is panel listed as an adjudicator, mediator, dispute board and arbitrator for numerous industry bodies including the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the RIBA, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Dubai International Arbitration Centre, and the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution. He is also a RIBA representative to the UK Construction Industry Council Appeals Tribunal.
