David Stapleton is a quantity surveyor with over 35 years of construction and engineering industry experience. He has acted as a quantum expert on five occasions as well as assisting the named expert.
David has been cross-examined in arbitration and has acted as the quantum expert for disputed projects with values in excess of $2 billion. He proactively seeks resolution to contentious contractual issues, providing quantum and claims services, and has experience as a party appointed expert.
David has a varied project background with roles ranging from quantity surveyor and project manager to consulting and claims management. He has worked on many prestigious buildings projects throughout the Middle East and South East Asia, including airports, retail malls, hotels and skyscrapers as well as across the power generation, industrial, oil and gas, civil engineering, heavy engineering, and transportation sectors.
David is experienced in commercial administration, contract administration and claims advisory services in connection with new build, refurbishment, maintenance, and fitting out contracts. He specialises in forensic quantum analysis, based on his extensive knowledge and experience of general quantity surveying practice, claims preparation and defence and contractual relationships.
David is a fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors and a member of the Association of Project Managers, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Academy of Experts. He holds a degree in building economics and quantity surveying, is a RICS accredited mediator and an Academy of Experts accredited expert determiner.
