Leo Kalikstein is a systems engineer with over 30 years of experience. He has been appointed as an engineering expert on five occasions.
Leo has testified at depositions and litigation regarding electrical, instrumentation, and automation engineering. He has prepared expert reports for disputes with values of up to $10 million.
Leo has experience in the lifecycle of electrical, instrumentation and control systems (I&C), and automation software project development deliverables, from initial piping and instrumentation diagram (P&ID) markups through to automation, instrumentation, and control system design and specification, programming, construction, commissioning, and start-up. He has supported clients on water treatment, pharmaceuticals, mining and metals, petroleum refining, food and beverage, chemical processing, oil and gas, manufacturing, and power generation projects in Guatemala, Peru, Russia, Turkey, the United States, and Uzbekistan.
Leo has conducted technical investigations and analyses to resolve industrial, commercial, and personal injury litigation involving the design, implementation, programming, operation, maintenance, and failure analysis of I&C systems and related equipment. His expert work has included being a lead investigator on personal injury cases involving parking gate schematics and safety, along with on-site security response timing to parking gate issues. Leo was the lead software investigator involved in the investigation of software piracy, where he provided software code comparison between hundreds of thousands of lines of code within a week to prove that the code looked identical.
Leo holds a degree in engineering physics, electrical engineering and control systems, and an advanced diploma in robotics and control systems. He is a Professional Engineer (Colorado), an EnCase Certified Examiner, and a member of the International Society of Automation.
