Peter Gillies is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with over 10 years of experience. He has been appointed as a quantum expert on more than five occasions.

Peter has acted as an expert at litigation proceedings for matters in the Technology and Construction Court, the High Court of Northern Ireland, and at county courts, as well as in adjudications. He has also been engaged in disputes at mediation and assisted on matters in both international and domestic arbitrations.

Peter has experience in quantity surveying, estimating, commercial, and contract management in the UK, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. He has assisted clients in cost estimating and planning, project establishment, and project delivery across multiple industries, including rail, light rail, aviation, energy, buildings, highways, bridges, and utilities. Peter has led a cost audit for a major infrastructure programme, with a forecasted cost escalation from £2.6 billion to £4.8 billion.

Peter’s expertise includes mechanical and electrical installations, rectification of defects, and the quantum assessment of fire safety remediation strategies. He is experienced in target-cost and cost-reimbursable contracts, particularly when utilised for the delivery of major infrastructure programmes. Peter has knowledge of various forms of contracts and has been called upon to test and review contractual entitlement for live and distressed projects.

Peter is dual-qualified in construction law and dispute resolution, as well as commercial management and quantity surveying. He is an accredited NEC project manager and holds an advanced professional award in expert witness evidence. Peter is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), an assessor, counsellor, and mentor for the RICS’ assessment of professional competency, and a senior practising associate of the Academy of Experts.
