Bob is a Chartered Engineer with over 35 years of construction industry experience. He has acted as technical expert on more than 25 occasions.

Bob has led engineering design on major EPC projects in excess of £300 million and as a project engineering manager on various power and nuclear power projects. He has been involved in a diverse range of projects including supercritical refits, biomass conversion, and fuel cell and carbon capture storage projects. He also has considerable experience in mechanical, electrical and building services systems.

Bob has over 20 years of experience as an engineering consultant, advising on major contracts in Australia, Bangladesh, Cuba, Indonesia, Pakistan, Thailand and Uganda. His technical expertise mainly relates to power and energy engineering including boilers, heat recovery steam generators, pressure vessels, piping systems, water chemistry and corrosion, thermal fluid heaters, chemical processes, industrial processes, emissions control and building services including HVAC.

Bob has been providing technical expert witness support for over a decade, acting both a sole expert or as part of a wider technical expert team. The cases have been carried out in various forms of dispute resolution including adjudication, mediation, litigation and arbitration and have included major cases and claims in Australia, Thailand and the UK. His expert roles have included major investigations into problems with both technical and commercial elements of flue gas desulphurisation projects, combined cycle gas turbines (CCGT), combined heat and power plants (CHP), specialist industrial machinery and contamination, and process related chemical and corrosion issues.

Bob has held a number of industry sector posts, including a period as secretary of the committee of the Scottish branch of the Institute of Energy and as a director and company secretary of the industrial and Power Association (now known as SEAS); as well as being appointed as an approved adjudicator for the Climate Change Agreement Adjudication Panel, operated by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He is a fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and a member of the Energy Institute and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
