Jon Chan is a Chartered Engineer with over ten years of experience. He has been appointed as a delay expert and assisted the named expert on numerous occasions.

Jon has acted as an expert in adjudication proceedings and given written evidence. He has assisted the named expert with delay, programming, and construction issues at arbitration hearings. Jon has prepared expert reports on disputed projects with values of up to $1 billion.

Jon’s expertise covers structural analysis and design of offshore sub-sea structures and pipelines and has conducted numerous assignments relating to the performance of construction professionals following the Society of Construction Law protocol. He specialises in delay analysis and project management advisory for adjudications and arbitration proceedings spanning a wide range of sectors, including energy, power, healthcare, commercial, residential, industrial, and retail.

Background

Jon has delivered design, procurement, and management of engineering and construction for projects across Europe, the UK, the Middle East, Mexico, and West Africa. He has extensive on-site experience, including the construction of offshore structures and pipelines in Porto Amboim, Angola, where he oversaw the planning, fabrication, coating, inspection, testing, and offshore transportation of oil and gas structures and pipelines.

Jon holds a civil engineering degree, including a one-year exchange programme at Melbourne University.  He is a member of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology and is bilingual in English and Cantonese.
