Brief
HKA was engaged by Cumbria County Council to provide an independent expert opinion of the quantum claim brought by Amey.
What we did
Our team reviewed the basis of Amey’s calculations used in relation to the quantum of their charges to the council, drawing on skills in:
- Quantum evaluation
- Expert opinion
- Litigation support
Outcome
Following Amey’s pursuit in the TCC, the council was ordered to pay Amey, predominantly based on interest, amounts withheld during the contract. It was acknowledged that HKA’s expert opinion had helped significantly reduce the amount that might otherwise have been payable.
