What do counsel, neutrals, and expert witnesses want and need from each other to maximise the effectiveness of expert witness evidence in ADR?
There are many reasons why expert witness evidence may be viewed by decision makers as incomplete or unhelpful. A common response is to see this as the fault of the expert witnesses. Moderators and participants will discuss whether or not that is the case and discuss potential solutions.
This event is an interactive panel discussion, with audience participation, considering how to get the best from independent experts from the perspectives of various participants in the arbitration process. It is a platform to discuss and learn from each other on what works and what does not work in the management of expert witnesses, the production of reports, joint processes, oral evidence and other duties of the expert witnesses in ADR, particularly in arbitration and adjudication.
The panel
Moderator: Igor Corelj, Principal at HKA, UAE
The Arbitrator: Duncan Turner SC, South Africa
The Counsel: Andre R Gautschi SC, Advocate at Advocates Group 621, South Africa
The Expert: Timothy Harwin, Partner at HKA, South Africa
This is a FREE event, followed by a networking session and refreshments. We hope to see you there.
