Doug Farrow is forensic accountant with more than 35 years of experience across multiple industries. He has been retained as an expert witness on more than 30 occasions.

Doug has provided expert witness testimony pertaining to financial and accounting matters both in federal and state courts and has served as an arbitrator or neutral accountant in numerous post-acquisition disputes. His professional experience in litigation and forensic accounting services includes multiple engagements involving forensic accounting investigations, wage and hour compliance assessment and quantification of damages, lost profits, crisis management, insurance claim disputes, and economic loss calculations in connection with civil litigation.

Doug was a senior partner and practice leader for KPMG Forensic in the Pacific Southwest region, and lead partner of the firm’s commercial insurance claims practice. He has assisted attorneys and their clients with preparation of damage models, discovery requests, preparation of deposition and interrogatory questions, document interpretation, analysis of opposition’s damage and liability claims, research related to accounting and litigation issues, researching and analyzing market and industry trends, preparation of declarations, development of trial exhibits and presentations, and preparation of expert witnesses for testimony.

Doug has significant experience assisting companies with preparing, analyzing and negotiating highly complex insurance claims, such as business interruption and property claims.  He has worked on and prepared insurance claims involving some the world’s biggest natural and man-made disasters, from gas leaks, oil spills, cyber security breaches, hurricanes, tornados and floods to deadly epidemics and pandemics, including COVID19. Doug has conducted numerous high-profile forensic accounting investigations, pertaining to allegations of financial statement fraud and accounting irregularities involving matters such as under-reporting of royalty payments, employee embezzlement, self-dealing by company executives, contract compliance matters, healthcare fraud and other types of fraudulent activities in a wide variety of industries.  These investigations have involved tracing of missing funds, identification and quantification of misappropriated assets, identification of responsible parties, and assistance with preparation of insurance claims under fidelity bond policies to recover losses incurred, as well as assistance with civil actions for recovery.

Doug is a certified public accountant (CPA) in California, a certified fraud examiner (CFE) and certified in financial forensics (CFF). He has been published on numerous occasions on matters ranging from crisis management and disaster recovery to present value concepts and damages modelling.
