Euan Geddes is a Chartered Architect with more than 25 years of construction industry experience. He has been appointed as a technical expert on three occasions and has assisted the named expert on numerous disputes.

Euan has provided expert opinion on building defects including water ingress, cladding/external wall failure, stonework, curtain walling and external wall insulation. He has been required to give opinion on professional negligence, the services of the architect and the work of the contractor. He has also acted as assistant to the named expert in a variety of matters providing specialist input for expert reports and dispute resolution. Euan’s work covers various dispute resolution arenas including litigation, adjudication and arbitration. He has also acted as a nominated adjudicator on behalf of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS).

Euan is one of the in-house team of experts in the buildings and property group at HKA. He specialises in commercial, retail, residential (including hotel and student residential) and industrial work.  His expert witness work has included reviewing available documentation, carrying out forensic site investigation and instructing specialist independent testing.

Euan has extensive experience as a job-running architect, responsible for the design and delivery of commissions throughout the UK. His experience ranges from architectural appointments to feasibility studies, scheme designs, statutory approvals, production information, detailed specification and report writing. He has acted as lead consultant and contract administrator throughout his career and is well acquainted with a variety of procurement routes.

Euan Geddes is a fellow of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS) where he sits on both the Council and Contracts Committee. He also sits on the Board of the Scottish Building Contracts Committee (SBCC) and is a member of the Investigations Panel of the Architects Registration Board (ARB). He is a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects, the Architects Registration Board and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Euan acts as a professional practice examiner with the Architects’ Professional Examination Authority in Scotland and has also lectured on Building Regulations at the universities of Strathclyde and Dundee.
