Joe Seder is a financial damages expert with over 20 years of experience in a variety of industries, including construction, insurance, and government contracts.
Joe has acted as an expert on numerous occasions, authoring expert reports on more than 10 matters and providing testimony in depositions, mediation and arbitration. Joe has been engaged as a financial damages expert on matters with damages ranging from under US$1 million to damages in excess of US$2 billion.
Joe has extensive experience calculating financial damages related to commercial disputes, such as breaches of contact, lost profits, workers compensation, reinsurance, post-acquisition disputes, and employment disputes. For example, Joe authored an expert report and testified at arbitration regarding alleged lost profits, increased costs, and contract payments on a breach of contract matter between a manufacturer and supplier. In the final award, Arbitrator noted “Mr. Seder was a credible witness, and his opinion on this matter is persuasive.”
On construction and government contract matters, Joe is proficient in claims pricing, construction cost accounting, change order management and pricing, critical path method (CPM) schedule analysis, productivity analysis, and project management. Joe has worked on projects for clients throughout North America in a myriad of sectors, including buildings, defence, industrial, infrastructure, oil and gas, and power and utilities. Additionally, he has worked as an owner’s representative on construction projects on behalf of the Public Building Commission of Chicago.
Joe Seder holds a BS Industrial Engineering and Management Science, an MBA, and he is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). He is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and a member of the American Bar Association (ABA). He is a board member of the Chicago Building Congress (CBC) and Chicago Volunteer Legal Services (CVLS).
