DoW – Letter to the Defense Industrial Base and Acquisition Stakeholders

On July 31, 2026, the DoW published a letter to the Defense Industrial Base and Acquisition Stakeholders suggesting the implementation of common-sense contract accounting changes. According to the letter, this will enable the DoW to achieve its key objectives: “to incentivize participation by commercial suppliers and reduce compliance costs by creating a framework that aligns key DoW data and audit requirements with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2022, section 404(b) control environments.” To achieve its objective, the DoW requested feedback on pragmatic ways to streamline data and audit requirements related to business systems.
