HKA is pleased to announce that structural engineering expert Jose Omar Nuñez has joined its Forensic Engineering, Architectural, and Scientific Services team as a Director in Miami.

Jose is a licensed Professional Engineer with more than 20 years of experience in structural design, construction management, forensic engineering, and capital project delivery. His expertise includes structural investigations, damage and building code compliance assessments, construction defect and failure analyses, and the preparation of expert reports for claims and disputes.

Jose has led and managed forensic investigations of residential and commercial structures, including large loss matters and assessments of building envelope failures and damage from wind, fire, water, and major weather events. He has served as an expert witness, providing deposition testimony in a range of property damage and insurance-related disputes.

In addition to his forensic engineering experience, Jose brings a strong background in public infrastructure and transportation projects. He has led engineering teams managing bridge, roadway, and tunnel-related work, including projects requiring coordination with public agencies, consultants, contractors, and multidisciplinary technical teams.

Jose has also managed multimillion-dollar programs, negotiated consultant contracts, and ensured adherence to federal, state, and local standards. He has been recognized for delivering practical engineering solutions and providing technical guidance to stakeholders, elected officials, and regulatory agencies.

Jose is bilingual in English and Spanish and holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Technological Institute of Santo Domingo and a Certificate in Public Administration from Florida Atlantic University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Louisiana, New York, and North Carolina, and is a Certified XL Tribometrist.
