Charles has acted as lead assistant in litigation, international arbitration, domestic arbitration, adjudication, and mediation proceedings. He has drafted expert reports, assisted in schedule development and hearing preparation, and produced analysis of complex cost and valuation issues on disputes with values of up to QAR 7.8 billion.
Charles specialises in construction quantum analysis and the evaluation of cost, change, and performance across major infrastructure and building projects. His expertise includes valuation of works at termination, variations, disruption, prolongation, defects, cost-to-complete assessments, and analysis of loss and expense, overheads, and profit.
Background
Charles brings significant practical experience through his background as a commercial lead for major UK infrastructure works. There, he was responsible for the commercial delivery of complex engineering packages of up to £250 million, including high-risk subcontract administration, deeds of variation, claims, and change management. He has worked across a wide range of procurement routes, including traditional, design and build, target cost, EPC and turnkey, PPP and concession arrangements, and framework agreements.
Charles is qualified in construction management and surveying, and in construction law and dispute resolution, and holds a legal experience training advanced professional award in expert witness evidence. He is a fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a senior associate of the Academy of Experts, and a member of the Society of Construction Law.
