Expertise
Dr Julian De Voy is a Chartered Engineer with over 30 years of experience. He has been appointed as a technical expert on more than 25 occasions.
Julian has testified at arbitration regarding civil and structural matters across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Australia. He has produced expert reports on disputes with values of up to $1.8 billion.
Julian has expertise in analysing complex new structures and the forensic investigation of defective or failed structures. He has provided both expert opinion and expert evidence on a number of instances where both materials science and structural mechanics have played a part in the cause of the dispute.
Background
Julian has experience in civil and structural design, where he was responsible for 50 engineers and technicians who specialised in the design of energy and development-related infrastructure. He is a member of the industrial liaison board at the University of Birmingham’s School of Engineering and an examiner for the Institution of Civil Engineers professional examination.
Julian holds a doctorate in engineering and material science and holds an advanced professional award in expert witness evidence. He is a fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and a member of the Society of Construction Law and the Academy of Experts.
