Class Actions

Effective economic analysis and efficient data management are fundamental to successfully resolving class-action litigation.

HKA’s independent experts transform complex data into clear, compelling insights – delivered through authoritative reports and expert testimony. These capabilities are critical in class certification, establishing liability evidence, damages quantification, courtroom presentation, and settlement administration.

How we support clients and counsel in class actions

HKA supports clients and counsel at every stage of running or defending class action litigation:

Early case assessment
We study financial, economic, and operational data to identify potential class members. Our specialists estimate the potential size of the class, evaluate the range of damages, identify key discovery needs, and support litigation strategy with data-driven insights.

Class certification and registration
Our experts assess the feasibility of developing a class-wide damages model, evaluate the typicality and commonality of the putative class and help explain the extent to which issues are shared or individual. This work is explained in expert reports and we provide testimony at depositions and certification hearings.

Expert liability evidence
Our industry, economic, financial and accounting experts are often engaged to provide forensic insights into issues of liability for plaintiffs and defendants.

Measuring damages
If a class is certified, we frequently examine alleged class-wide damages and provide detailed reports and testify at deposition and trial.

Settlement or award administration
Following a settlement or damages award, our team supports the administration process by performing claim calculations and distributing proceeds to class members.
