HKA is pleased to welcome George Matta as a Partner in our Construction, Claims and Expert Services team, based in Abu Dhabi. George’s appointment further strengthens our leading disputes practice in the Middle East and reflects HKA’s continued growth and investment in supporting clients on complex construction and infrastructure projects across the region.
George is a recognised expert in delay analysis, acceleration and disruption claims, bringing more than 30 years of experience advising clients on project management, planning and scheduling, and claims and dispute resolution matters. Throughout his career, he has helped clients navigate complex project and dispute challenges, delivering robust, evidence-based analyses and practical solutions across a wide range of sectors and jurisdictions.
George is highly regarded for his expertise in project planning and controls and for providing independent expert opinions in high-value disputes, including arbitration and litigation. He has extensive experience preparing expert reports, analysing and rebutting opposing expert evidence, and providing lay and expert testimony in local and international proceedings. His expertise spans construction programming, delay and disruption analysis, extensions of time, acceleration, loss of productivity, expert determinations, dispute resolution negotiations, and mediation support.
George’s appointment reflects our continued investment in, and growth of, our construction disputes service offering across the region. His more recent experience in Saudi Arabia and the UAE in high-value disputes and complex major infrastructure projects further strengthens our ability to support clients facing increasingly sophisticated challenges in our key markets. At the same time, I am particularly pleased to welcome another fluent French testifier to the team and as such, George will also be working closely with colleagues focusing on disputes across Francophone Africa
George has worked on major infrastructure, commercial and industrial projects across the Middle East and Australia, including power stations, airports, water, healthcare and education facilities, railways, tunnels, roads and bridges, oil and gas developments, mining operations, and residential projects.
George is recognised by Lexology Index as a leading construction expert and is recommended in the Construction Experts and Consulting Experts: Construction, Quantum, Delay & Technical reports.
The Middle East continues to deliver some of the most ambitious and complex projects in the world. HKA has played a significant role in supporting these projects, and I am looking forward to contributing to the firm’s continued growth and success across the region.
George holds a Master of Laws (LLM) in Construction Law and Arbitration from Robert Gordon University. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the Institute of Arbitrators & Mediators Australia, and the Australian Institute of Project Management. George is fluent in English, Arabic and French.
