HKA is pleased to announce the appointment of Du Preez Kirstein as Partner, based in Brisbane, effective 1 June 2026.

Du Preez’s appointment is a significant milestone for HKA’s business in Australia. It strengthens the firm’s Construction, Claims and Expert (CCE) capability and enhances how we support clients in Queensland and the wider Asia-Pacific and International regions.

Du Preez is a testifying construction delay expert with more than two decades of experience advising on some of the world’s largest and most complex engineering and construction projects. His work spans transport infrastructure, energy and renewables, oil and gas, mining, and building projects across Australia, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas.

He provides live project planning support, forensic delay analysis for contractual claims, and expert witness evidence, including under cross-examination, in adjudication, arbitration and litigation. His practice focuses on the assessment of delay and disruption issues on major projects and disputes.

Prior to joining HKA, Du Preez held a range of senior leadership roles in specialist project advisory and construction disputes practices, most recently as Managing Director.

He holds an LL.M. in Construction Law and Arbitration and a Postgraduate Diploma in Construction Project Management from Robert Gordon University, as well as business training through Harvard Business School’s CORe programme. He is a Practising Associate of the Academy of Experts, a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and a Fellow of the Institute of Construction Claims Practitioners, the Association for Project Management, and the Australian Institute of Project Management.

Du Preez is based in Brisbane and will work closely with colleagues across Australia and internationally to support clients on major capital projects and disputes.
