HKA appoints Chris Johnson as Director in Forensic Engineering, Architectural, and Scientific Services

HKA is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Johnson as a Director on its Forensic Engineering, Architectural, and Scientific Services team in Sacramento, California.
Chris brings more than 35 years of experience as an architect and general contractor, with over 15 years dedicated to forensic consulting and construction defect analysis. His portfolio spans residential, commercial, governmental, and institutional projects, including complex, high‑value matters involving flagship facilities and claims exceeding $100 million.
Chris has conducted detailed forensic investigations and technical analyses, providing hands-on remediation and repair expertise for complex construction defect claims and expert testimony for litigation, arbitration, and deposition proceedings. He has also served as architect‑in‑charge and technical consultant on a wide variety of projects, including multistory office buildings, hotels, churches, financial institutions, campus master plans, and both custom and production housing.

Chris has extensive experience supporting projects from early planning through construction. His background includes code compliance, site development, and feasibility analyses; pre-design services such as architectural program development and existing conditions surveys; and accessibility and ADA compliance assessments. He has also provided value engineering services, constructability reviews, cost estimating, and construction and project management services, contributing practical technical insight throughout the project lifecycle.
His multidisciplinary approach integrates architectural design, construction management, and general contracting expertise, enabling him to deliver clear, defensible analyses of issues related to standard of care, code compliance, constructability, building performance, and more.

Chris holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Oregon. He is a licensed general contractor in California and a licensed architect in California and Nevada.
