The fire safety agenda in the UK continues to be of critical importance for surveying professionals. Session 3B: Moving towards safety equity for evacuating existing residential buildings
This session will explore the use of evacuation lifts in existing residential buildings, looking at:
- The status quo with regards anyone who can’t evacuate from existing residential buildings using the stairs.
- Challenges faced by operators and the fire and rescue service regarding disabled evacuation.
- Difficulties in incorporating evacuation lifts in existing buildings to the standard expected by prescriptive guidance.
- Ways in which existing passenger lifts could be used for this purpose.
