Washington Arbitration Week 2023

HKA is proud to be a Platinum sponsor of Washington Arbitration Week 2023, which begins on November 27 in our Nation’s Capital. As one of the largest forums and arbitration weeks in the world, this five-day event provides practitioners, arbitrators, academics, public officials, and students a platform for learning about and discussing the latest developments in international arbitration related to Washington, DC, and its extended international community.  

This year, HKA is excited to announce that three of our world-class arbitration experts were invited to participate in panel discussions: 

• On November 27 at 10:30 AM EST, Partner Rebecca Vélez is speaking on “The Experience and Expectations of Diversity: A Conversation with Foreign Attorneys and Partners in US Law Firms and Boutiques, Academics and Students from Multiple Backgrounds” alongside Kim Keenan of JAMS; Todd Weiler, Independent International Arbitrator; and Claudia Frutos-Peterson of Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP. Gaela Gehring Flores of Allen & Overy is moderating the discussion. 
• On November 28 at 10:30 AM EST, Partner Tim Hart is discussing “The Impact of Global Price Volatility on Calculating Damages in International Arbitration” with Sveta Ksenofontova of Cornerstone, Natalia Maria Szlarb of Wiley Rein LLP, and Seabron Adamson of Charles River Associates. Borzu Sabahi of Curtis Mallet-Prevost Colt & Mosle LLP is serving as the panel moderator.  
• On November 30 at 3:00 PM EST, Partner Ken Kratovil is speaking on “International Arbitration in the Era of Climate Change: Renewable Energies, Geoengineering and Critical Mineral Industry” alongside Petr Polášek of White & Case LLP, José Alberro of FTI Consulting, and Garret Rush of Secretariat. Dara Brown of White & Case LLP  is moderating their discussion.
