Janice Tam

Janice Tam is a Chartered Architect with more than 20 years of experience. She has acted as an architectural expert on six occasions and has assisted the named expert on more than 40 occasions.

Janice has provided forensic analysis and expert opinion on building defects concerning design and workmanship, such as cladding, fire compartmentation and water ingress issues, from single domestic dwellings to high-rise buildings. She has prepared reports for architects’ standard and duties, professional negligence and contractors’ contractual obligations. She has also assisted in personal injury disputes by preparing disability and/or fully accessible accommodation needs reports, including adaptation and relocation costs.

Janice has undertaken leading roles on large-scale, complex buildings including high-rise residential and mixed-use developments, transportation, aviation, and healthcare projects across London, the Middle East and Hong Kong. Her experience covers all stages of the design process from conceptual design to planning application, detail design, and multi-disciplinary coordination (as a lead consultant), technical information production, tendering, and project management through to contract administration and construction.

Janice has expertise in international design standards and compliance across various geographies and cultural needs. She is experienced in design management and project management and has completed technical and peer reviews of drawings and reports for optimisation of initial designs.

Janice holds master’s in both architecture and construction law and dispute resolution and has completed an advanced professional award in expert witness evidence. She is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a registered mediator of the Civil Mediation Council. She is a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects, the Society of Construction Law, the Adjudication Society, the King’s College Construction Law Association, the Society of Mediators, and a full practicing member of the Academy of Experts.
