Janice Tam is a Chartered Architect with more than 15 years of experience. She has acted as a technical expert and assisted the named expert on more than 25 occasions.
Janice has provided expert opinion and analysis regarding design issues and building defects of single domestic dwellings, building defects and fire issues in multi-storey buildings, architects’ professional duties, and contractors’ contractual obligations. She has also assisted in disability and fully accessible accommodation matters by preparing accommodation needs reports (including adaptation and relocation costs) to support litigated cases in court.
Janice has undertaken leading roles on large-scale, complex buildings including high-rise residential and mixed-use developments, transportation, aviation, and healthcare projects across London, the Middle East and Hong Kong. Her experience covers all stages of the design process from conceptual design to planning application, detail design, and multi-disciplinary coordination (as a lead consultant), technical information production, tendering, and project management through to contract administration and construction.
Janice specialises in the forensic analysis of design and construction defects and related contractual obligations. She has a broad knowledge of international design standards and compliance across various geographies and cultural needs. She is experienced in design management and project management and has completed technical and peer reviews of drawings and reports for optimisation of initial designs.
Janice is a registered architect in the UK and Hong Kong and holds a bachelor’s degree, master’s and post graduate diploma in architecture. She has completed an advanced professional award in expert witness evidence and is a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects and the Hong Kong Institute of Architects.
