Jean-Francois Thibeault is a registered professional engineer with over 25 years of experience in the construction, engineering and asset management industries. He has been retained on more than 10 occasions as an expert in matters of delay and quantum.

Jean-Francois has testified in litigation and arbitration proceedings. He has provided assistance to legal counsel for disputed projects of up to $200 million across Africa, Europe and Canada and is also experienced in mediation, negotiation and dispute arbitration boards.

Jean-Francois has worked as project manager, portfolio manager, project executive and in various leadership roles in capital project construction and delivery, and for engineering businesses around the world. He has an in-depth understanding of the contracting business (FIDIC, NEC, CCDC, BNQ, Cost+, professional service, etc.) in complex markets such as transportation, nuclear, power, oil and gas, and infrastructure, with a focus on water and wastewater. He has also provided commercial and contract management support and dispute resolution services for legacy issues related to post mergers and acquisitions, and divestment activities.

Jean Francois’ expertise in the analysis and quantification of construction claims is based on comprehensive hands-on experience, professional training and ability to breakdown complex issues into simple, succinct, and robust analysis. He is highly proficient in project productivity, financials, cost control and project management information systems (PMIS) and has been actively involved in dispute avoidance and resolution, as well as project management oversight, in more than 15 countries.

Jean-Francois is bilingual in French and English. He is a member of the Project Management Institute, the Association of Professional Engineers in Quebec, Canada, the International Water Association and Global Water Intelligence and acts as regional director of the Society of Construction Law North America.
