Ken McLean is a Chartered Engineer with more than 35 years of mechanical building services engineering experience. He has acted as a technical expert witness on eight occasions.
Ken has been cross-examined in international arbitration proceedings, including giving concurrent evidence (hot-tubbing), and has provided expert reports and services for a range of building types from industrial and healthcare to hospitality. He has been appointed as the engineering expert for projects with values up to £1.3 billion and disputed values in excess of £100 million.
Ken’s building services engineering experience ranges from on site to senior management; covering all aspects of technical design, management, planning, installation monitoring, supervision, testing and commissioning, trouble shooting, reporting and advising. His expert appointments have concerned major infrastructure, oil and gas, healthcare and mixed-use development disputes in Australia, Canada and the UK along with the Middle East and CIS countries.
Ken is widely skilled in project management and multi-disciplinary team leadership along with detailed investigations, problem solving and project programming. He specialises in building physics, energy efficiency and sustainability, energy and environmental modelling, building regulations and the interaction of users with the built environment.
Ken McLean is a fellow of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers, a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating & Air Conditioning Engineers and an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He is fluent in French and has presented at a wide range of conferences and events in the UK, France and Turkey, regarding data centres and opportunities for building services engineers.
