Mark Funk has over 30 years of experience in commercial damages. He has been appointed as a quantum damages expert and assisted the named expert on numerous occasions.
Mark has provided expert testimony at the International Criminal Court (ICC), the Stockholm Chambers of Commerce (SCC) and the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA). He has acted as an expert with disputed values of up to US$13 billion. He supports clients with breach of contract disputes, investment arbitration matters, regulatory proceedings, forensic accounting investigations and insolvency matters.
Mark has provided operations and strategy consulting services for companies, government entities and legal counsel across a range of industries, including mining and metals, oil and gas (upstream, midstream and downstream), conventional and renewable energy, power plants, financial services and industrial manufacturing. He combines his engineering and finance background with nearly 20 years of management consulting experience.
Mark specializes in international arbitration with a focus on commercial damages analyses involving complex contract disputes, valuations, lost profits analysis, investigations and bankruptcies. He has significant expertise in investment treaty cases, large capital project management, post-merger integration, strategic planning and operational effectiveness.
Mark holds a bachelor’s in engineering and a master’s in finance and international business from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He is a member of the National Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Association for Supply Chain Management.
