Philip has acted as an expert witness and expert advisor for matters in litigation, arbitration, adjudication and mediation and has given expert evidence in the courts and at planning enquiries. His expert roles have covered a wide range of disputes across varied building and infrastructure projects including materials, design, construction and operational issues.
Philip’s background in civil engineering includes pavements, drainage, water supply and rail infrastructure. His structural engineering experience covers building structures, structural steelwork, structural concrete, masonry, foundations and seismic design.
Philip specialises in seismic engineering and has supported clients regarding seismic design and codes of practice around the world; including Asia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas. He brings extensive practical experience of major project delivery to his expert work along with considerable experience of all stages of the design process, on both civil engineering and building works.
Philip is a fellow of the Institution of Structural Engineers, the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Chartered Management Institute and a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Academy of Experts. He is an accredited mediator and project manager for both NEC3 and NEC4 and has been published on a variety of structural and civil engineering matters, including as a contributor to the Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE) Handbook of Concrete Durability (2nd edition).
