HKA ENDORSES MATTERPORT’S IMMERSIVE 3D MEDIA PLATFORM FOR RISK MITIGATION AND DISPUTE RESOLUTION IN CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

HKA, a leading provider of consulting, expert and advisory services, has announced a new service advising its global clients. Matterport’s breakthrough 3D reality capture platform provides a multitude of benefits for mitigating risk and resolving disputes on projects.

As an adviser to clients on digital strategy and project delivery, HKA provides insights on the practical application of both existing and emergent technologies. The company’s endorsement of Matterport validates its end-to-end solution, which combines high-resolution photography, 3D modelling, and virtual reality (VR).

Cost-effective reality capture has a host of applications to the consultancy community, as well as architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) companies. HKA advises on how the combination of project records and immersive media provides advantages across risk management, commercial negotiation, dispute avoidance and resolution – with additional full life-cycle benefits from integration with BIM and facilities management.

“We’re proud that HKA, an industry-leading provider of professional advisory and consultancy services, is using Matterport to benefit their business in innovative ways,” stated Bill Brown, CEO of Matterport. “Matterport’s end-to-end platform enables AEC professionals to create the highest quality 3D models and collaborate seamlessly with partners. It also enables them to identify issues early, ensuring that construction documentation is captured and easily accessible throughout the project’s lifecycle. HKA’s endorsement is a testament to our platform’s ability to drive real value.”

Progressing 3D Technology

Earlier this year, Matterport broadened its offering for AEC companies by announcing a partnership with Leica Geosystems, an industry leader in measurement technology. The partnership allows for integration of the new Leica BLK360 imaging laser scanner with Matterport’s cloud-based platform. The result is an easy, flexible and automated way of capturing immersive 3D visualizations from two different devices using just the Matterport Capture app.

“We recognise the huge potential of Matterport’s reality capture solution to help unlock the true value of project data across not just construction, but the entire asset lifecycle,” said Charlie Woodley, HKA Director. “Having opened up its platform to accept data from third-party sensors, Matterport’s partnership with Leica Geosystems is democratising access to previously cost prohibitive reality capture.”
