Sue Kim is appointed to the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board (KCAB)’s Panel of International Arbitrators

We are proud to announce that HKA Director, Sue Kim, has been appointed to the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board (KCAB)’s Panel of International Arbitrators. The appointment period is from 1 June 2022 to 31 May 2025.

As the independent arbitration division of the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board, KCAB International focuses exclusively on the resolution of international disputes.

Sue Kim is a chartered quantity surveyor (UK-trained), a qualified architectural engineer (South Korea-trained) and a non-practising barrister with 20 years of experience in the construction industry throughout the UK, Europe, Middle East, Asia (including South Korea) and Australia.  

I am very pleased and honoured to be appointed to the Panel of International Arbitrators of the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board (KCAB). As the sole arbitral institution statutorily empowered to deal with cross-border disputes, KCAB INTERNATIONAL specialises in efficient and cost-effective arbitration and other dispute resolution services.

Sue’s expertise is in matters of quantity surveying practice for both pre-and post-contract, ranging from cost management, estimating, procurement, project assurance cost audits to post-contract commercial, contract and claims management. She specialises in the preparation, defence and independent review of claims for disputed variations, prolongation and disruption, and has worked with various standard and bespoke forms of construction contract. This combination of skills in all aspects of the quantity surveying profession constitutes a sound basis for her primary role as a quantum expert.  

Sue has been appointed as a Single Joint Quantum Expert Witness and as a party appointed Quantum Expert Witness in litigation, international arbitration, adjudication and mediation, acting for both employers and contractors. 

Based in London, she has worked on a wide range of projects including residential buildings, commercial buildings, hotels, schools, shopping malls, rail, pipe laying, water, power plant, civils and oil & gas projects.
