HKA is delighted to be the host venue for CIArb Scottish Branch’s event, Trends in Dispute Resolution.
Introduction
Extract from CIArb Eight years following the Arbitration (Scotland) Act 2010, there are exciting initiatives in Scotland by various organisations, leading to new approaches to alternative forms of dispute resolution to court. These initiatives will be further focused, when Scotland becomes the global centre within the international arbitration community with Edinburgh hosting the International Council for Commercial Arbitration Congress (ICCA) in 2020. In this event representatives of CIArb, the Faculty of Advocates, RICS and the Scottish Arbitration Centre will give an insight into what they see as the trends and developments in Arbitration.
About the Speakers
Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Richard Farndale who is the Chair of the Scottish Branch will speak about initiatives of the Institute and the Scottish Branch in the development of ADR, including the Arbitration model. Faculty of Advocates Dispute Resolution Service William Frain-Bell is a Member of the Executive Committee of Faculty of Advocates Arbitration, an arbitrator and committee member of the Scottish Branch of CIArb, and will talk about exciting initiatives by the Faculty. Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors Ysella Jago who is the Dispute Resolution Executive within RICS will discuss the role of the RICS Dispute Resolution Service and initiatives within the Institution. The Scottish Arbitration Centre Brandon Malone is the Chairman of SAC. Brandon will discuss the initiatives of the Centre and will then discuss ICCA 2020 and the opportunities that provides to Scotland.
