Mahmoud Abougabal is an architectural engineer with 15 years of construction industry experience. He has been appointed as a delay expert on six occasions.
Mahmoud has been cross-examined in litigation on more than 30 occasions in both English and Arabic. He has acted as the expert for disputes with individual values in excess of $100 million including an international airport, landmark museum, power plant, and residential towers. He has also been involved in an arbitration at the Dubai International Arbitration Centre and in DAB proceedings.
Mahmoud began his career working on the design, planning and delivery stages of major construction and infrastructure projects. These included the expansion of the Holy Mosque in Mecca, the Dubai Water Canal and Fujairah Oil Terminal 2.
Mahmoud specialises in quickfire, rapid proceedings. He has excellent presentation skills and is known for navigating complex technical matters and disentangling them for wider audiences.
Mahmoud holds a master’s in both project management in construction and infrastructure and construction law and dispute resolution. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and is fluent in both Arabic and English
