2023 Eastern District Texas (EDTX) Bench Bar Conference

HKA is excited to sponsor the 2023 Eastern District of Texas (EDTX) Bench Bar Conference on October 25–27 in Plano, Texas. One of the nation’s top annual bench bar conferences, this “go-to annual gathering” is hosted by the Eastern District of Texas Bar Association. The conference draws judges, lawyers, topic speakers, guests, and other participants from across the United States and around the world to discuss a broad range of cutting-edge legal topics. The special guest speaker for this year’s conference is Kevin Costner.

As part of the event’s IP/Civil Track, HKA Partner Douglas Ellis is on a panel alongside Chris Bakewell, Kroll, Inc., B. Erin Crocket, Kroll, Inc., Alan Ratliff, StoneTurn Group LLP, and Ambreen Salters, StoneTurn Group LLP, to bring you “Whole Hog or a Hill of Beans: A Conversation About Disgorgement and Apportionment” on October 26 at 2:45 PM CT. The panel will provide updates on the disgorgement remedy in trade secret damages and design patent damages, as well as an update on apportionment in patent and non-patent cases. The moderator for this panel is LuAnn Simmons of O’Melveny & Myers LLP.

In addition to a variety of sessions on intellectual property (IP), civil, and criminal topics, this year’s conference features several optional social and networking events, including Golf at the Omni PGA Frisco, a sporting clays contest at Elm Fork Shooting Sports, and indoor skydiving at iFLY on the morning of October 25.
