Saudi Arabia is embarking on one of the biggest project investment programmes ever seen as it strives to deliver the objectives of its Vision 2030 strategic development plan.
Central to The Vision are a generation of megaprojects and gigaprojects such as the US$500bn Neom future city, the Red Sea Project, Amala and Qiddiya entertainment city project. Over the coming decade, these projects will lay down the foundations of Saudi Arabia’s future. And they will provide abundant new opportunities for investors, developers, consultants, contractors and manufacturers in the region.
The unprecedented scale of these projects however also means that unprecedented new challenges must be overcome.
Delivering the Vision looks at the opportunities and challenges of Saudi Arabia’s new generation of projects, and at how companies and projects must rapidly adopt new digital technologies to improve project governance, productivity and to minimise costly and time-consuming disputes.
Featuring leaders from the region’s projects industry, the 60-minute live-streamed discussion examines how contractors and developers in the region are transforming and rethinking the way they do things to deliver projects better. It considers the technologies and skills needed to enable this transformation, as well as the introduction of new processes such as project dispute boards that can help to resolve disputes quickly and amicably.
Using case studies and the latest findings from HKA’s Crux research programme, the panel will consider why projects go wrong, and share expert insights on the most common causes of claims and disputes on construction projects. The broadcast will highlight key lessons that can be learned from past projects to ensure that projects in the future are set up correctly to minimise disputes, delays and cost overruns.
Delivering the Vision also assesses how the need to reduce carbon emissions and increase local content on projects is influencing project design and delivery. And what companies can do to achieve these goals.
