ABA National Institute on Criminal Tax Fraud 2023

Join Partner Ron Braver, a retired IRS Special Agent and Supervisor, on December 8 at 2:45 PM PT as he participates a special session on “Tax Enforcement Across Generations: Senior IRS Special Agents in Dialogue with Those Who Follow in Their Footsteps” alongside his daughter, Ashley Braver, a current IRS Special Agent, at the ABA National Institute on Criminal Tax Fraud 2023 in Las Vegas.

Ron and Ashley, as well as other former and current special agents, will discuss the differences between generations, the influence of DEI initiatives on the makeup of IRS Criminal Investigation, the important lessons children have learned from their parents, and what parents have learned from their children. The session will also feature conversations on the effect of globalization on tax investigations, the influence of technology (e.g., video interviews, big data, AI) on investigations, the impact of whistleblower tips on investigations, and the seven forensic investigative techniques.

Hosted by the ABA Tax Section, the 40th Annual National Institute on Criminal Tax Fraud and the 13th Annual National Institute on Tax Controversy is the yearly gathering of the criminal tax controversy and criminal tax defense bar. This program brings together high-level government representatives, judges, corporate counsel, and private practitioners engaged in all aspects of tax controversy, tax litigation, and criminal tax prosecution and defense.
