As the world emerges from the pandemic, we look at how to keep energy projects on track and how to mitigate risk.

The session will take the form of a case study on an onshore windfarm, and will explore the following issues:

  • Managing the international supply chain
  • Renegotiating contract terms
  • Impact on associated contracts
  • The role of the Independent Certifier
  • Claims for time and money
  • Contractual remedies

Speakers:

Damian Waters, Partner, HKA

Damian is a legally qualified quantity surveyor with over 30 years’ construction industry experience. He’s worked on a broad range of projects for a varied UK and international client base in the building, civil engineering, infrastructure, oil and gas, power and utilities, marine and offshore renewable sectors. Damian has provided commercial and contractual advice to contractors and employers and has significant experience in managing large multi-disciplinary teams.

Anna Mills, Partner, DLA Piper

Anna has focused on construction and engineering disputes for over 16 years. Anna acts for a wide range of domestic and international clients across a number of different industry sectors including renewables (particularly wind), conventional power, infrastructure, oil and gas, transport and manufacturing. Anna advises clients on large, complex, high value, multi-party disputes which are frequently international.
