As part of Paris Arbitration Week 2022, HKA’s Forensic Accounting and Commercial Damages team, alongside key industry thought leaders, invite you to join this morning panel session discussing the challenges in assessing economic losses in unprecedented times of global disruption.

Today, for example, the world is experiencing severe disruption in access to vital commodities as a result of sanctions imposed on Russia following its invasion of Ukraine. Other examples of disruption include artificial technology, block-chain and ESG issues.

Moderator:

Jana Lefranc, Director, HKA

Jana is a Chartered Financial Analyst Charterholder with more than 15 years of professional experience. She specialises in the assessment of damages and complex valuation issues in litigation and international arbitration contexts. She is experienced in matters involving breaches of contract, investment treaty claims and transaction-related disputes. She has led teams supporting the named expert on more than 30 occasions, has provided oral testimony in the Czech national courts and has led expert work on matters where the amount in dispute exceeded US$ 10 billion.

Anastasia Bondarenko, Senior Vice President – Fortress Investment Group

Anastasia is Senior Vice President at Fortress Investment Group where she advises on investments in legal assets, specialising in international arbitration. Qualified to practice law in France, Canada and United States, Anastasia has more than 10 years of experience in international dispute resolution.

Recognised as a thought leader in Who’s Who Legal: Thought Leaders – Third Party Funding, Anastasia regularly speaks at industry conferences and contributes to articles on a wide range of topics in connection with dispute resolution funding and international arbitration.

In private practice, Anastasia advised and represented private and sovereign clients in the context of complex and high-value commercial, investment, and state-to-state disputes.

Karl Hennessee, Senior Vice President – Airbus

Karl is SVP, Head of Litigation, Investigations & Regulatory Affairs responsible for all global civil disputes and external investigation as well as legal lead for all complex regulatory matters. Large team and substantial budget authority. Member of several boards, including a publicly-traded company and non-profits. Frequent speaker, university lecturer, and author of over 120 published articles on law and public policy.

Noah Rubins QC, Partner – Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer

Noah heads the international arbitration practice group of Freshfields in Paris.

A US, French, and English-qualified, Russian-speaking lawyer, he has represented clients in nearly 100 arbitrations under ICSID, ICSID additional facility, ICC, AAA, SCC, VIAC, LCIA, ICAC, and UNCITRAL rules, including some 30 investment treaty disputes.

He specialises in construction and energy disputes, particularly upstream, pursuant to contracts and under the auspices of bilateral investment treaties.

Noah has practiced law in New York, Washington, Houston and Istanbul, and has also served as arbitrator in over 40 cases under ICC, LCIA, SCC, ICSID, VIAC, ICAC and UNCITRAL rules.

He speaks English, French and Russian fluently, and has a working knowledge of Spanish and Hebrew.

Anthony Charlton, Partner – HKA

Anthony is a Chartered Accountant with close to 30 years of professional experience. He has been appointed as an expert in matters of forensic accounting and the assessment of economic loss on over 50 occasions.
