Representatives from the HKA team are looking forward to participating in ASEC 2020 this week. Organised by Engineers Australia the conference will showcase a range of high calibre papers and presenters in the field of structural engineering.

This years conference committee included Nicolette Cumbo, who has helped to curate an exciting line up of industry leaders. Nicolette will be co-chairing a number of sessions over the course of the first 2 days. This years program will explore innovation and drivers of change in relation to sustainability, resilience, digital design and forensic engineering.

To round off day 1, HKA Director, Carl Chouler will be moderating some lively discussion around industry productivity, further details are outlined below.

Pandemic shock – do we “snap back” or aim to “snap forward”?

The Engineering and Construction has been under pressure to deliver more, for less and faster. However, sector productivity has on average flat-lined over the past 20 years compared to the gains achieved in other sectors. What are the challenges and opportunities for boosting productivity and performance? What does the picture now look like with Covid-19 shock recovery? The panel will explore how the sector is being creative, innovative and adaptive – ready to contribute to outcomes not just to ‘snap back’, but to move forward in an at-speed project delivery environment.
