HKA is proud to sponsor and speak at the 4th ICC Indonesia Arbitration Day as the event’s exclusive Expert Partner.

The annual ICC Indonesia Arbitration Day brings together leading professionals in the legal industry to discuss key issues concerning international arbitration with special attention placed upon Indonesian practice. This is the first in-person engagement at the event by the President of the ICC International Court of Arbitration, Claudia Salomon.

HKA Expert, Hamish Egan will join a distinguished panel of speakers comprising of legal practitioners, a technology provider and third-party funder, and they will be discussing the topic on ‘Finding trusted partners: the importance of ancillary services providers in arbitration & ADR practice‘.

In any arbitration & ADR proceedings, clients and legal representatives often leave selection and management of ancillary services until the early submissions of the proceedings are completed. While this may not be a problem before the pandemic, continuing such practice these days may not be the best regardless of travel restrictions easing. Furthermore, ancillary service providers, in fact, hold the same importance as arbitral institutions and law firms that serve as clients’ trusted partners in ensuring efficient and streamlined process. In this session, the Panel that consists of arbitration & ADR services providers such as; document repository and hearing solutions providers, experts, and third party funders will impart their experience and knowledge about their line of work, why and how these services matter the most, and how clients, legal representatives, and arbitral institutions can best work together in the context of the arbitration & ADR ecosystem.

Hamish Egan

Hamish Egan is a Chartered Accountant, a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder, and a Chartered Valuer and Appraiser (CVA) with more than 18 years of experience in accounting and finance.

Based in Singapore for over 12 years, primarily specialising in forensic accounting on complex contentious matters, Hamish has experience in business valuations, often arising from shareholder or post-acquisition disputes; estimation of loss of profits, principally arising from alleged breaches of contracts; and the analysis of complex accounting information.

Hamish has worked across multiple forums, including international arbitration under ICC, UNCITRAL, SIAC and AIAC rules, court litigation, and mediation.  He has worked with clients from various sectors, including technology, construction, manufacturing, energy, mining, financial services, manufacturing, and services, and with clients or assets in jurisdictions across Asia, including Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, China, Vietnam, and Thailand.

Hamish has been appointed as an expert witness, acting as an expert on matters with disputed values of up to US$125 million, and assisted in the preparation of expert reports in relation to cases with disputed values of over US$ 1 billion.

Hamish has also worked for the sovereign wealth fund of Singapore, where he was involved in developing the firm-wide valuation policy and reviewing the internal and external valuations of private equity investments.

Hamish holds a degree in economics and finance and a graduate diploma in accounting. He is a member of the CFA Institute, the CFA Society of Singapore as well as the Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand.
