HKA is delighted to host the Qatar edition of “Engineering the Dispute”, an interactive debate on the role of the Engineer in construction projects, alongside Addleshaw Goddard.

INTRODUCTION

With the construction industry in the Middle East described by some commentators as being at a tipping point, with enhanced concerns relating to delayed payments and increased disputes, HKA has teamed up with Addleshaw Goddard to deliver a breakfast debate session, focusing on the role of the Engineer in Middle East construction projects. The session will analyse the key roles and responsibilities of the Engineer and the extent to which the competing demands on the Engineer may contribute to or cause disputes in the regional construction industry. HKA’s Partner, Husam Gawish, will put the case for the Engineer and Addleshaw Goddard’s Construction Partner, Bevan Farmer will be discussing whether the Engineer is the root cause of disputes and project failures. Addleshaw Goddard’s Head of International Construction, Andrew Greaves, will chair the debate. We will welcome audience participation and look forward to a lively discussion.

ABOUT OUR SPEAKER

Husam Gawish has over 20 years of diverse engineering, claims, project management and business development & marketing experience gained through working on a wide range of global projects across several industry sectors. He is a Chartered Engineer and a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers in the UK.
