Sanctions are a popular policy tool furthering the aim of settling differences among States. Whilst measuring their actual success is a notoriously difficult task, financial sanctions have become indispensable to the foreign policy and national security strategies of several States, with the sanctions imposed against Russia in response to its invasion of Ukraine being the latest example.

Commercial aviation, being a globally interconnected industry, is particularly sensitive to them and the impact of the Russian sanctions, considering the country’s significant pre-invasion role in aviation, continues to be felt by almost every participant in the industry, including airlines; financiers; insurers; regulators; and other service providers. The seminar aims to highlight the challenges that commercial aviation and associated services face from the, sometimes conflicting, sanction regimes imposed against Russia and to identify good practices in terms of compliance with them.

For that reason, we have brought together a group of stellar sanctions specialists which include speakers from Fountain Court, Stewarts, Kennedys, Pillsbury, CCB Leasing International, NMLH Ltd and Swansea University.

This is an in-person event at RAeS Headquarters in London, taking place over the afternoon of 16 May 2023.
